Maintenance & Repairs - August 2007

This just started today, truck runs fine every thing else works fine, just cant figure out the dash. I have checked all of the fuses that I know of please help. also the speedo and tach are dead.

Ford Winstar minivan, AC not blowing....?
I believe its a 1997 or 1998.
The air conditioning is "technically" working/blowing but its not coming out of the dashboard vents? I can hear it running, Any suggestions? HELP its like 500 degrees and kids have to be driven to school. UGH! Thanks Guys!

I have a 97 Jeep Cherokee Sport. I have noticed that things that are by the battery (electrical wire tubing, vacuum hose) are decaying very quickly...it's almost as if they are melting or having some sort of chemical spilled on them. I do not see any spillage, but there is a bunch of corrosion on the battery terminals that I have cleaned off many times before only to have it come back shortly.

This battery is relatively new (within the last few years). What is causing this?

I recently(less than 8 months) got a new 350 put into my car and noticed that black smoke comes from the exhaust when ever you hit the gas petal, the more gas you give it the more smoke comes out. My friend said he thinks that maybe some of the rings have gone bad on the pistons, is this possible being such a new engine? How can I pinpoint the problem with out paying someone else to do a diagnostics? By the way it is carbureted. thanks

My friend wants to give me a car that's been sitting around for over a year. I don't know much about cars. It needs new tires and brakes, but I want to send it to Farm and Fleet for that, but what needs to be done to the car before I need to start it up. It'll need a new battery and an oil change. Does Farm and Fleet to oil changes? And what else should be done too?

I have a six cylynder Nissan Altima 3.5 an want to put a a Zex Wet Nitrious system. My issue is that Im not sure which shot is reccomended. The jets that come with the kit are 75-150 shot. I've heard that I should go no higher than a 50 shot for my 3.5. Which shot is best?

I looked and it doesn't look easy, like on one side it looks like you have to remove the battery? Am I looking in the wrong place. The replacement is a little bulb in a brown holder that is kind of J shaped. It is obvious that it is to plug in somewhere, but where? It can't be that hard, can it? Help please

I have a 2003 Lincoln Navigator. It is a Super car and only goes to the shop for maintenance; however, lately I have been hearing a noise coming from the rear end.

For instance, when I turn, I hear a sound, kind of like a BBQ Gas tank rolling from the center to the side if you would leave it in your trunk loose. And when I turn the other way I hear the same thing. I also hear it when I break!!

I parked the car in my driveway and emptied the car completely. I mean, I took out trash, bags, toys, and pencils, you name it, it is out. I also checked the under belly of the car and saw nothing loose including the spare tire compartment.

Then this morning, I made my first turn and PrrrrrRoll-LLLLL

What da!!! (I said!) What the hell is it?

on a 2000 chevy malibu
when the garage returned it to me the check engine light was on... They told me it was the mass airflow sensor code .. They said it should go off after driving it for a while.... When I take off a few seconds after the second I stop pressing the gas the car jerks hard as if I hit the breaks .. Is this going to stop after driving a while???

What kind of increase in hp/torque can i expect from the magnaflow performance muffler i have purchased for my 1998 sebring convertible jxi? I've read other places that say i can expect up to a 10% gain, but that doesnt seem realistic. Is it?

I have a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I use to have to wait 10 mins for my check engine light to go on before starting my vechile the colder it was the longer it would take to start. Now instead of the check engine light going on the RPM gauge jumps up to 2, then stops and I still cant start my Jeep. I change my fuel pump my fuel Relay automatic shut off relay and my fuel filter along with the crankshaft sensor. I am lost in what to do now after spending alot of money$ I got nowhere. my saab is leaking coolant like mad... it goes through it almost as fast as gas... but i dont have the money for the part to get that fixed... so until then is it ok if i use water instead of coolant? thanks.
