I noticed my car doesn't accelerate as quickly when the air is on. Is this normal?

I have a Saturn L200 2003

This is normal. When the A/C is running, it puts an additional mechanical load on the engine to run the A/C compressor, resulting in slower acceleration. This is also the main reason why your gas mileage lowers when you run the A/C.

Actually, the air conditioner does use a little bit of the engine's power to run it, so when your air conditioner is engaged, the usable horsepower of your engine is a little less, so yes this is possible, and normal. If it is a VERY noticeable difference, however, that is not normal.

It is perfectly normal. When the AC is on there is a compressor that runs of the drive belt. The extra drag from that causes the engine to work harder and will give you decreased performance. Especially with a 4 cylinder car.

Yes, its normal. Something like 10 percent of the car's low speed power is directed to the air conditioning. And its been so hot!!!
