I guess that it will have to be. Using just water, will not be as good as using the coolant, since the mixture will have a higher boiling point and carry away more heat.

Just be sure to carry a couple of gallons of water with you, so you don't run it without fluid in the radiator. You will have to get this fixed before winter anyway. Can you borrow a few dollars from family and get the thing fixed right? good luck.

coolant also works to lubricate the water pump. Running just water is bad for the engine over time. What is leaking? there are a bunch of cheap fixes depending on what it is. If it's a small radiator leak, add "alumaseal" to your warm engine to stop small leaks.

60/40 mixture works better than straight water, but water will do in an emergency, but not long term. Water is what keeps ethelyne glycol from freezing. Also, remember that coolent that is leaking from your radiator (or wherever) is deadly poison to animals and is considered toxic waste.

You can mix it 60/40 water/coolant

YES! Straight water cools BETTER than AF/Water mix & is easier on the water pump. That is why race cars run water, but DO NOT run distilled water, it leaches minerals from the block. Anti-freeze is what the name says.

Yes but only for a short time you will have overheating and corrosion then more leaks long term with water

Nope. Use coolant diluted to the proper level with water. You risk locking up the engine if you do not get the radiator or water pump or hoses repaired.
