It's a 1998 Toyota Sienna. The Parking Brake light goes off sometimes but it mostly stays on. Any suggestions for getting it to turn off?

As I just told someone with the same problem on a Honda, some cars use that light as both a parking brake "On" indicator and a brake system "Failure" light. Check the fluid level in your master cylinder. If that's OK have the dealer or a mechanic see if it's a brake system problem.

I used to work as a service advisor at a dealership. Alot of that was the floor mat sometimes was obstructing the brake pedal, or in 1 case, the panel above the pedal that covers the wiring and stuff in the dash was hanging down and pressing the pedal.

Best advice- get down there and see if there is anything loose in the area of the pedal that can be causing it to act up. Otherwise you could have a bad brake light switch.

make sure you connections are good on your plug-ins. they may be loose. It a push button switch. When your parking brake is off it pushes a switch down. When your brake is on it pulls the lever off. So i would check to make sure that your connections aren't lose. Good luck.

Misaligned or faulty switch, replace or align. It should go off when the parking brake is fully released.
