My power just shorted out and the microwave, dishwasher, heater, tv and radio were all in use at the time, my lights are working as they normally do when the safety switch turns the power off, but this time the safety switch isn't what stopped it so I am assuming it was a fuse. If it is a fuse then why is my computer the only working electricity apart from my lights?

My hood flew up due to a broken hood release. I was on the highway and the wind got under the hood and it flew up and struck my windshield. There are two dents in the middle of the hood. Also, when the hood is shut, it doesn't close completely up where the hood's hinges connect to the vehicle. It there a way to fix both of these problems.

My car is a 1990 Mercedes with safety glass (I think it's plastic coated on the inside). The "sticker" was from an out of state registration and made of paper surrounded by very sticky glue. The paper came off easily. The glue remains.

I just had a valve cover gasket and an oil pan gasket fixed last week dew to an oil leak, but I noticed over the weekend that my car was still leaking a little bit of oil. It's less, but it was still there. Today though, when I looked under the car, there wasn't any leaking oil. What's going on? Is it normal or possible for my car to still leak oil after it was supposed to be fixed and then just stop leaking oil? I should probably take it back to the mechanic but I'm afraid I might make him angry if I make him do all this work just to find out that there really isn't a problem. I mean what if he messes something up and says that's the cause of my still existing oil leak problem and then charges me for it? I worry about this becuase I've heard of these things happening before. I could take it to another mechanic, but obviously I'd get charged for sure. I'm really low budget right now so I'm just wondering what you all think about this problem and what's the best thing to do. Thank you

It seems like my car only does it when I'm on the highway going 65- 70 and I exit and go to slow down is when it starts to shake. I took it in and had new brakes and rotors but on it, but could it be the rear drums? The mechanic said he was stumped. He thought it was the rotors for sure. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

I have a 1997 Ford Explorer and under the hood the engine is very dusty and dirty. I'm not afraid to clean it at the car wash with some sort of enging degreaser/cleaner; however, I want to make sure there isn't some component under the hood that I need to pay special attention to avoid.

I realize that I should minimize the impact to the plug wires and possibly anywhere the wires plug in, but what about the rest of the engine compartment?

Advice please - very much appreciated!!

Its like when You have a house fan and you stick something in the way, that noise. Well then It told me i was out of oil. I pulled over put some oil in and as I started my car, at first it didnt want to start but it did. Then I been trying to figure out my problem but im not sure. I refilled it with oil, and i looked under the car and the oil leaks right like big drops at a time. whats wrong??

Normal operation after start up; all warning lights operable, but off; and normal brake function. But when I press harder than normal on the brakes, the BRAKE light and the REAR ABS light come on, and they stay on until I turn off the car. This will happen even if I'm not traveling. With the car just sitting idling, if I press the brakes too far, the lights come on. Whenever these lights are on the pedal feels a little spongy towards the bottom of travel (but that could be my paranoia) and takes longer to stop. There is NO fluid leakage anywhere, and the MC is full to the perfect level. All brake parts (pads, rotors, drums, shoes, spring kits) are around 1,000 to 1,500 miles old, and I have always changed them myself (for 10 years on this vehicle) and new front hoses were installed 4 years ago. There are no other issues with the brakes other than this. 222,000 miles and counting. Help? Please?

When I come to a stop, my car will put and sort of sputter. I begin to think that it will go out on me so I keep my foot on the accelerator to prevent that.

Once I get going again, I press on the gas extremely hard (where the RPMs are on about 4 or 5) but it takes me forever to gain speed.

The last time I drove it, it did this again and when I came to a stop in the parking lot, the car began to smoke from under the hood and the smell of gasoline was faint.

What's happening??

I've just done an oil change on my vauxhall corsa. I used 10w 40 and the manual recommends a max of 5w40 - is this to much of a problem? Plus anyone know what the grades mean? I know it has something to do with viscocity, but what?

I have a 2002 Mercedes Benz CLK320 with a V6 engine, and I would like to know if it's OK to use 87 octane gas to save some money. My owner's manual says that the minimum fuel octane I have to use is supposed to be 91, but considering today's gas prices I'd like to use the cheap gas if I can get away with it without damaging the motor. It makes sense to me if the manufacturer tuned the engine in the factory to get the best performance on 91 octane. But to my understanding, modern car engines come with knock sensors that automatically detect if there's any engine knocking due to low octane fuel, and will automatically retard the timing to make it run smoothly so how can the cheap gas possibly cause any damage? I'm pretty sure there's no difference in actual quality or purity between different octane fuels, so it's not like it would gum up my engine. I have a feeling that engineers are too conservative on paper and that it would probably be OK, although I might just lose some power.

2003 Toyota Corolla 4cyl/The fan speed button does not bring on the unit through its phases( slow/low/med/high), sometimes.
It appears that the diverter for the vent system face/face-foot etc. when placed in the face position has more likelyhood of the fan working on any speed.
In very hot weather the fan when on high sounds to be surgeing
and not spinning at it's setting properly.

Go for it!!!

My 2007 Ford Fusion has a bunch of nasty water spots from a sprinkler on the fake chrome grill and front end of the car. I've run it through 2 car washes but they are not coming out.

What is a safe way to get rid of those water spots that won't hurt the fake chrome grill or my paint?
