My exhaust is in decent condition and i want it sound performance like. Do i need to get a whole performance exhaust system or would it make a difference in the sound if I just get the performance muffler? P.S .I have a dual exhaust system on a 97' Camaro.

you could just add a muffler, if thats the rout that you take i would recommend a Cherry bomb glasspack. those have a good sound for there price and you can find them on line at http://www.cherrybomb.com/glasspacks-front.html. but if you want to also increase your horse power, you can also replace the current exhaust and replace t with a new one with a 2 inch or larger diameter for better sound.
the choice is yours, but i recommend the entire system being replaced.
good luck.

You have dual exhaust pipes from a Y split at the rear axle not a complete dual exhaust system from the motor back. An exact replacement stainless steel Dynomax Super Turbo would be the easiest least expensive way out. If you were to replace the complete system with headers and individual catalytic converters it would cost nearly $1000. do do it up correctly. It's entirely up to you. Usually a juiced up full (headers included) exhaust system will benefit a blueprinted high performance motor much more than an every day driver.

All you need is a performance muffler but if you get the whole exhaust you will gain more Hp then just the muffler.

and exhaust tips don't change the sound just the look.

just get a new dual exhaust system with some flowmaster 40 series and if you can, forget the cat. A shop will probably charge 400-600 depending on the shop, but a brand new exhuast is the best investment for a car.

all you need to do is change the mufflers to a performance muffler such as a flowmaster super 44, go to their website and you can hear all their mufflers they offer and you make the choice of the sound you like.

You can change the sound by changing the exhaust tips. It would save you a lot of money just to change the tips rather than change the entire muffler and exhaust system. Talk to your local auto parts distributor, they'll have some quick and easy do-it-yourself tips on improving your sound!

why would you suggest a super 44 its just like a series 40 but more money because it is one inch thinner.

tips don't make the sound.

just changing the muff will make it sound different, a full exhaust will make it run better, and faster.

Depends on what sound your after. Mufflers, diameter of ex. pipe and pipe wall thickness will all effect sound alone or in different combos.

Since when "better" is a synonym to "obnoxious"?
