How do I replace the serpentine belt on my 1999 serville

there should be a sticker either on the underside of the hood its self, or on the fan shrouding that will show you how to run the belt. if it has an automatic tensioner on it then its really simple, but if it doesn't and you don't have a tension tool you might want to take it to a mechanic so that you don't over tighten the belt and end up shearing it off a couple hundred miles down the road.

good luck.

Well, if it was Ford, Dodge, or GM, they put a diagram right under the hood. If the belt is still there, make sure you take a picture to remember the routing. The general rule is, the ribbed side of the belt goes on the ribbed pulleys and the smooth side of the belt on the smooth pulleys. There will usually be a tensioner pulley that you can move with a 3/8" or 1/2" breaker bar or ratchet.

you will need a serpentine belt tool to remove the tensioner off the belt(it is the pulley that is spring loaded and can pivot away from the belt)

the diagram for belt routing should be on the radiator cover shroud.

Locate a diagram of the belt routing before removing the old one.
If you can't find one then draw a picture.
Release the tension by forcing the belt tensioner away from the belt.
Remove the belt when you have enough slack.
Replace it in reverse order.

If there is a autozone available in your area go there they will be able to print out the diagram for you. if you cant then just take a look at the pulley's and get the belt and try to put it on by whatever pulley is closer to the next one and if the pulley has grooves rap around if it's smooth put the back of the belt .hope this helps.

Usually the belt route diagram is on a sticker near the hood latch. If not it'll be in the handbook in the glove compartment.
