The other day I was driving down the freeway and as I kept pressing the gas I kept hearing a scratchy/clicking noise. Its like when You have a house fan and you stick something in the way, that noise. Well then It told me i was out of oil. I pulled over put some oil in and as I started my car, at first it didnt want to start but it did. Then I been trying to figure out my problem but im not sure. I refilled it with oil, and i looked under the car and the oil leaks right like big drops at a time. whats wrong??

Take it from a Taurus and Sable owner: The oil pans Ford bolts on these blocks aren't worth a sh*t. It's not the least bit unusual for them to rust straight through in ten yrs. or less. I was extremely lucky when mine rusted through while parked in the driveway. It was my own fault as I noticed major scabby rust on the bottom of the thin crappy metal oil pan at the 8 year mark. New off-shore oil pans are cheap. You'll need to drop the front Y pipe to change it.

I've driven Fords for many years , the current one being a 94 Explorer, and have learned over time that high mileage vehicles run better with straight weight like 30 or 40, in the summer, depending on your temperatures, so it doesn't break down as easily. I use 10w30 for winter because of our cold temps. so as not to tax the motor too much at start. I also use Frams high mileage filter for better oil pressure since my truck has nearly 200 thous. miles now. For me, it maintains excellent oil pressure year round. I only use Valvoline or GTX now, not synthetic.

cant honestly say without somebody looking to see where the oil is coming from. you may have blown it, put a rod thru the block it may be a oil pan leaking anything. nobody on here can diagnose your car , it has to be looked at.

Sell your Taurus. When something breaks, the whole car breaks. Taurus' were meant to be replaced, not fixed. Better luck with your next car.

they had problems blowing the oil pan gasket out. but not knowing where it is exactly leaking, i.e. in front, passenger side, its hard to pinpoint.

could be almost anything, seals, thrown rod, it is hard to really say, take it to your mechanic and have it looked at and fixed while the problem is still small. better than replacing your engine if you don't
