ok, two days ago while driving my check engine soon light came on. the car drives normal by the way. so i brought it today to get it hooked up to the obm meter and says that an oxygen sensor is malfunctioning. i drove home and ate. i left again to stop at autozone to price these sensors and the light didnt come on. it illuminated normally as all the other warning lights do when u start the car but this time it turned off shortly after. should i replace the sensors anyway even though the light isnt on? thanks

I have a 97 Caddillac Eldorado and it is overheating. It doesnt happen all the time, but when I drive for longer periods of time it starts to over heat. It doesnt have any leaks and when It starts to over heat, if I cut on my heater in my car the temperature gauge will go back to normal. Please help me find the problem.

Anytime I push on the gas whether it be sitting still and revving it up or driving the truck it makes this whining like noise. It doesn't do it when you turn the sterring wheel only when pressing the accelerator. I was told it could be something to do with the power steering but the fluid isn't low. Someone else told me it was normal for that truck. Any ideas what it could be? And is it expensive to fix? Thanks.

I hit a curb side (real bad hit) and wall of front tire has chipped a bit. A mechanic checked with some soap water and said no leak and so fine to go. Another shop said it is better to change tire since you cannot assess if there is hidden damage.
What is the risk of not changing the tire, if any?

Also, is there a easy way to find out if the hit has caused any mis-alignment?

my engine light went on and he found that I had a cracked manifold. He switched them in the cars. My light doesn't go on anymore and he fixed the problem. The question is, why doesn't his engine light go on with the cracked manifold?

It keeps fouling out the ignition coil. In the past 4 months, I have replaced the ignition coil 4-5 times (both at shops and myself).
Detail: I'll be driving along just fine, and suddenly all power just dies (accelerator, brakes, steering, engine. The radio, A/C, etc...still work.) This has happened 4 times since I've owned the Jeep. It won't start again until I get a new coil (obviously.) Then it will foul that one out. The last coil only lasted about 10 miles, and I noticed it got really hot very fast.
So...does anyone know of anything farthur up the chain or whatever that could be fouling out the ignition coil? Keep in mind...it's been to a regular car shop, a specialty Jeep shop, and two actual Jeep dealers' shops. They can never figure it out beyond the coil - I'll take any answers, but it can't be a very easy fix if they all can't fix it.
Can anyone help?
I will award a Best Answer and stars...even if it doesn't actually cure my car.
Thanks for any help!

I was thinking of buying a Pontiac GTO but I know that it requires 91 octane gasoline. My question is what would happen if you put 87 gasoline in any car that requires 91? Would that ruin your car or what?

I had a repair center quote me $800 worth of repair to fix my car. But a friend of mine is a mechanic and he thought I just need one part. I went and bought a $12 part and had him put it in for me and now my car works fine.

The check engine light in my truck came on, and I took it to the dealer. They told me that my purge hose was split, and that it would be a few days before it would come in. They said that it was fine to drive, but I was wondering if it is ok to drive without, what exactly does it do?

they are disk in front and drum in back. But they are very sensitive at first and today the back wheels locked up on the slightest touch of the pedal. When they warm up they are smooth and I have no problems. Is this something I should worry about?

For a few months I have been hearing a gurgling sound, it sounds like it is coming from the transmission. Yesterday after I had driven about a mile the check gauges light came on, the heat guage showed about 250. I started back home, after about another mile the gauge went back to normal & the light went off. I felt of the radiator, it didn't feel hot.

My husband & I bought a brand new 2006 honda civic coupe in October of 2006 and we used it for only 6 months until we had to put it into storage because he deployed to Iraq & my daughter and I moved back home. The car will be in storage for about 15 months. Will not turning on the engine for that long affect the car in any way? poor performance maybe?

I have a 2001 chevy malibu (v6) and it has those 100,000 platinum tipped plugs. I was having an engine misfire, i took the car to my chevy dealer turned out a plug needed replacement. All was good a for few weeks now the engine its running rough again.. the other day after it rained really bad the plugs barely fired. Think the rest of the plugs need replacing? I just had my intake gasket replaced and intake and MAP sensors done before they figured out it was the plug (i have an extended warranty so it didn't cost me but 75 bucks)

Yes, still on my same car questions from a while back. Nissan claims that they did put oil in my car after the oil change and that either I let the RPM go to high or that I downshifted when I wasn't supposed to. I know it wasn't downshifting b/c my car won't even let me go into a lower gear if it's not ready for it. Maybe if I force it hard enough, but I know I didn't force any gears.
I still don't think it was the "high RPM," however, tomorrow when I meet w/ the Nissan lawyers, I would like to be able to give them an average of how high the RPM can go before the pistons would bust a hole in my engine.
(I still don't think it was this though, seeing that I was driving my car 60mph in 5th gear).
Thanks to all those who have helped out!

We had two front tires replaced on our van four weeks ago. The tire place put on new tires and bolts.

We went on a long road trip and two weeks later our front drive side tire almost fell off - we stopped because of wobbling and discovered that two of the studs had sheered off and the tire was held on by just three loose bolts. We were towed and new studs were put on.

About a week later after over a thousand kilometers we felt a wobbling and started to pull over to the shoulder and on the way our passenger side front tire flew off and we were extremely lucky to slide to an upright stop on the shoulder.

We have gone back to the tire place to seek compensation as we were told (by others) that it could very likely have been over torquing that led to this problem and failure. They never told us to retorque at 100 kilometers which I learn is recommended by many sources.

They are resistant to compensate us
