Anytime I push on the gas whether it be sitting still and revving it up or driving the truck it makes this whining like noise. It doesn't do it when you turn the sterring wheel only when pressing the accelerator. I was told it could be something to do with the power steering but the fluid isn't low. Someone else told me it was normal for that truck. Any ideas what it could be? And is it expensive to fix? Thanks.

I had the same truck with a 360. Im not sure if this is the same sound but it started to make a whining noise coming from the engine/transmission area. It was worse when I started it up after I had let it sit for a week or so. I never had any problems from it but dodge said it was probably my torque converter and was common on that year truck.
You might want to have someone else rev the motor while you listen to various engine components with a mechanics stethoscope(under 20 bucks at napa). Check the alternator, compressor clutch, power steering pump and water pump. You also might want to change the belt if it has over 40k miles on it. I have had those belts make that noise too. If you can’t find it it’s probably that pesky torque converter but like I said, mine never actually broke, it was just a bit noisy.

it could desire to be the alternator, AC compressor, skill guidance pump or serpentine belt ilder tensioner pulley. regularly we've been looking alternators whining. Compressors and water pumps usually grind or growl. you would be wanting somebody reving it particularly, to make the noise seem, on an identical time as you localize it. as quickly as localized, value can then be predicted.

sometimes the alternator will cause this. you might want to check your ground wires to it and the battery. also if you have installed a stereo or anything aftermarket in this vehicle will sometimes whine throught the radio. also check grounds for these items. good way to check for this is to turn off the radio and see if it still occurs.
