Maintenance & Repairs - August 2007

This is a 1991 Plymouth Voyager we have had battery trouble for about 9 months and every time a new battery is put in the car works for 2 months until we have to take the battery back to get recharged. We had Auto Zone do a diagnostic and was told it was a bad alternator so we replaced that. The car worked beautiful for 4 days. Then we went on vacation for 3 days and came back and the car wouldn't start again. Therefore we took the battery back to Auto Zone and had them recharge it. Afterwards the car started again but, were afraid to drive it so we have just been started it each morning and night. I called a scrap yard to see about scrapping the car and they said something in the van's computer might be draining the battery. Any truth to this? Anyone know what could be draining the battery?

hi guys. I have a 1991 dynasty. How can I baby the transmission. Apparently, it sticks in second gear on occasion..I know its gettting old, but I can't afford the more than $1000 overhaul its really going to need, and plus its just not worth it.

Is there a recoomended additive, such as wynns, or duralube for transmissions that will help it somewhat?

I am trying to put a box of things together incase my car stalls and would like some idea of what would be good to include. Such as water or oil,,any ideas would be welcomed. I do belong to AAA but they took over 2/12 hours to show up and the temp was 113 and my car was stalled.

While driving, check engine light comes on and speed is reduced to approximately 25mph. Turned off vehicle, waited few seconds, turned back on again...power back for a short time, then power shut down again. What is wrong and how to fix it? Thanks for any advice...would like to fix ourselves but if not, then would like to have some knowledge before going to dealership for repairs.

I hav a 95 honda accord ex 2.2 4-cyl TECH. the VSS malfuntioned. i was told that the VSS is on the thermostat housing on the transmission. but i can find it. can anyone tell me what it look like? what does the wire look like? the best would be a photo of it the car. but a diragram would help too. thx everyone

Hi, can anyone help?
My l'cruiser is starting and idling well. The problem begins when you push down the accelarater, it really misses and carries on, it jutters & just doesnt want to go. Back off the accelerater and goes back to a nice idle.
It doesnt appear to be points, and I just put in a new set of spark plugs.
This is happening on gas and fuel, although it is not as bad on gas.
When I take the air bit off the carbi, it seems to go fine, put it back on and the missing begins again. The air filter is fine.
Please someone help,

I have an 01 nissan frontier. All of the sudden will not start. It will not jump either. Its a brand new battery. When i turn the key absolutely nothing happens. The dome light comes on still. When i turn the key no dash lights come on. No sounds.

Working on a 2003 Nissan Senta spec v. When adding fuel, fuel over flows the tube. I'm guessing this has to do with a venting issue. I'm guess there is a blockage keeping air from venting as new fuel is added. Anyone know where I can find out where my blockage is? Or a diagram of the fuel tank and filler assembly.

I drive a 96 Honda Accord and lately it has been pulling really sharply to the right when i let go of the wheel. I took it to firestone for a front end alignment and they said ti wasnt that at all. They said my left rear tire was "tilted" but that they didnt see any parts broke, gone, or worn. I cant tell thats is tilted at all.Im very confused we r taking it to a mechanic tomorrow but i just wanted some thoughts/opinions. THANKS!!!

Okey, I have a 95 eclipse GS. The only problem it has is when I completely stop and then try to accelerate. The RPM goes really high but then speed just passed 10mph. Also when I am doing like 40mph and like the road is going up by a little bit, I hit the gas but only the RPM responds. No speed. The problem is that when going uphill (not steep at all) the car's speed goes down fast.
Also, I guy that I know has a 99 oldsmobile Baravda (V-6) with the same problem. The only responds he gets is higher RPM no mater how fast or how gradually he accelerates.
The pre-owner of the car has one of those 30$ high flow air filters installed. I was thinkin about getting one of those 200$ cold air intakes. Would that may be solve the problem a little bit?

There is 3 stems that are on the top of the fuel pump, where the hoses connect. One has a R and one has a F. The stem in the middle is the vent. What does the R and the F stand for?!?!? Rear and Front? Resivoir and Fuel? Help

has a remote starter on. so i disconnected it. seems to start when i jump form another car, but when i shut it off same result. turn key and it will just click (once). some times it will click several time in a row, when i turn the key. but know it wont' do anything, but lite up dash, radio etc... i've been told there's a history with gm's, and electical stuff. can someone help me out here???

My car has no electrical power. no radio, interior lights, and does not even try to start (crank). no power of any kind. I jump started it and went to get gas. I was able to turn off the car at maybe two places, then start it and return home. The next morning it has zero power again. I had the battery checked and it is fine. I put the battery back in the car and not even lights or any electrical power comes on. Before I assume that the movie "Signs" or War of the Worlds is true, can someone help me?

My grandpa and I are trying to break down this air filter so we can have it chromed. It uses oil, its not your usual air filter. The bottom of it turns left and right. Not sure how to take it apart any help will be greatful.

Yes I loosened the correct bolt to get it to turn but it just wouldn't budge. Does anyone have any suggestions how I could loosen my distributor to get it to turn? Please any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
