For a few months I have been hearing a gurgling sound, it sounds like it is coming from the transmission. Yesterday after I had driven about a mile the check gauges light came on, the heat guage showed about 250. I started back home, after about another mile the gauge went back to normal & the light went off. I felt of the radiator, it didn't feel hot.

You're out of coolant.

The light comes on to alert you that a gage is not reading a normal condition.

It sounds like you have a cooling system problem. It is possible the thermostat stuck closed for a moment and made the temperature go up. Get it checked out because if this happens again, and it does not open, you could blow the head gasket and then you will be looking at a $1500 repair.

It might be a bad thermostat.
