I took it to the shop because it would die in an intersection and get all choked and die. I drive it places like to the vet with the dog and to the wood pile to dump off branches etc... I thought I would get it fixed. I also told the mechanic it pulled to the left when I hit the brakes, and I thought it may be a brake problem.
I called yesterday and they put in a re built carberator and a brake calliper on one side and gave me a bill of $601.00.
Is this in the ball park or did they screw me over? What would you expect to pay for this?
I could be paranoid because I am a 42 yr old single female.

Its in a 1977Ford F-150 4x4 if that makes a difference. My truck has been overheating, it overheats after driving at 10-15mph for 5 minutes, its retarded. i thought it might have been the thermostat so i changed that and it is still doing it. So i am thinking that it is the waterpump, anybody know how to check it or have any ideas as to what it may be? thanx.

Can this be do to the security system. Not sure of the history of the vehicle (stolen or attempted). How would this be fixed or is it worthwhile to try and do so.

I have a 1996 Dodge Stratus and the engine blew from the oil leaking out of it. I found an engine for $450ish with 62,000 miles on it and wanted to know if it's hard to swap it. Auto Zone supplies a guide on how to do it and even loans me the two main tools I need. Of course I can't spend too much since I'm a college student, so I'm trying to cut as a lot of cose plus I only spent $1000 to buy the car. If it's not a good idea, is there a cheap way to get it done?

My son was using my truck and put gas in it.....so he thought. Turns out that the gas station had diesel in the tank instead of gas..so he ended up putting 25 gallons of diesel in the tank..then he drove it a good 30 miles or more.( truck no longer runs) We just found out today about the mix up..just curious if the engine will be ruined. Any input will be helpful.

I was told the rear brakes have to be disconnected from power source before working on them. Was told they are under high pressure and if did not use the correct scan tool or disconnect power it was highly likely they might explode due to the high pressure they are under.

Since I don't have any diagnostic or scan tools can I just disconnect the battery? ANd, were is the battery located?

Thank you
