It can damage your hand brake and possibly your transmission

If it drove, and you weren't flooring it to make it go, it wasn't on all the way. Hopefully...

At best - nothing bad happened. People do it all the time and usually such a short distance won't hurt anything. Especially if it was at low speeds.

At the worst, you've fried your brake pads and rotors. At the very worst, you may have boiled the fluid out of the brake cylinders and the grease out of the rear wheel bearings.

Was there a lot of smoke coming out of the rear wheels?

Regardless, have it checked out.

Check and see if your parking brake still works. I'm sure you put a lot of wear on it. It wouldn't be a bad idea to get the brakes checked. You generated a lot of heat, and you may have fried some rubber parts and hurt some seals. Good luck.

Your brakes pads are probably worn completely out. Do not trust driving until they are inspected and probably replaced.

You are lucky it didn't start a fire in the brakes, they were for sure over-heated to excess.

It would have helped if you had gave the year, make and model of your car, but the above would apply to most if not all cars.

Have the brakes checked as they could be warped due to excessive heat. I'd also have the handbrake adjusted, since you shouldn't be able to move the car with the parking brake engaged.

odds are in 6 miles you probably didn't hurt anything...drive it...if it seems to have problems then have it checked out. you obviously have rear drum brakes ..because if you have rear disc it probably wouldn't even move with the park brake applied. or you didn't have it applied all the way,,either case most likely no real damage.

Good luck

You just wore out your brake shoes faster than normal.

im surprised you didn't notice it. your brakes must already be bad, if the handbrakes didn't cause a big enough effect on the driving.
