A few days ago, my car wouldn't start. So we jump started it, and sure enough it worked. So I figured it was a dead battery. But my uncle said it couldn't be (keep in mind, he isn't much of a car guy), so he messed with something underneath where the dashboard is at. A bunch of wires. So I bought a new battery, and it still won't start. Instead, I hear a clicking noise from where those wires are at. Anyone got any advice, or at least know what the problem is? its kind of an emergency now considering I have power windows, and the driver side one is open, and I can't even close it. Someone please help!!!

Everyone I've asked says that its normal for the older model diesels to put out black smoke...
Is it true that nothing will stop it?
Other than not driving it, of course. lol

Hey,

The battery in my car is located in the trunk, and right now the trunk really smells. I know this is an indication that the battery needs to be replaced, however the car starts fine.
Do I still need to replace it?

Thanks.

ford focus 2003 model
does the warranty guidelines state that if the repairer alters the odometer reading in any way, they must change it back to the exact reading when the car was brought in for service.

2000 Chev S10 Blazer, 4.3 engine, auto overdrive trans. Losing coolant. Leaking at the engine/bell housing connection on the driver side, somewhere from above. Is there possibly a coolant sensor on the top rear of the engine? Kinda like the old Chevy V-8 oil sensor that was mistaken for a rear main leak.

They are very dirty. Is there a steam clean machine I could rent somewhere with a small spraying and sucking part, like a home carpet cleaner, but smaller for a car?

For exmaple. I want to take the engine from a 87+ mustang 5.0 and put it in a 67 mustang. How hard would that be.
Would it just require relocating the computer and installing o2 sensors?

I have a 2005 Dodge Caravan SE with a 3.3L V6. My engine light came on about a week ago, and upon pulling the code, I came up with a P0404 or EGR Valve. I work for Pep Boys as an installer, and one of the mechs at work told me to try cleaning out the EGR valve with throttle body cleaner. I sprayed the ports of the EGR valve with throttle body cleaner and then disconnected the positive battery terminal to reset the computer. The check engine light came back on with the same code and the car is still sputters every now and then. The sputtering seems to happen when it's hot outside and the vehicle has been running for a while. I've unfortunately already discovered that the EGR valve is not covered on my warranty. Are there any additional steps I can try, or should I just chalk it up to a bad EGR?

I had a 5 gallon gas container in the back of my truck and it rained the other day and i'm assuming a little bit of rain fell into the container. without thinking i put all of that gas in my truck. nothing has happened so far but a friend of mine said just make sure i keep my trucks gas tank full and that way the water won't ever reach the fuel lines.

I have an 02 Pontiac Grandprix with 62k miles. Recently I have been noticing longer than usual cranking when starting my vehicle. Not noticeable to another driver, but since it is my primary vehicle I have noticed a slight change. Today I pulled into a gas station after driving from work (~5 miles) and had the car off for approx 5 mintues during a routine fill up. When I tried to start the car it was very slow to crank, felt like a drained battery. One the second attempt the car cranking sped up and started. I also, noticed my clock time changed during the 2nd cranking attempt. I proceeded to drive another 20 miles until home and shut my car off in the driveway. I immediately tried to restart my car with no slow cranking at all (very slight hesistation though). The car started right up. I then shut the car off and waited approx 5 minutes. Upon restart, the car had the same sympthons as the gas station, slow cranking and again my clock changed time. Any suggestions?

Every time I sit at a stop light, the temperature in my engine starts rising. Additionally, if I sit there long enough (as often happens in rush-hour, downtown traffic), my air starts blowing hot. Then, when I speed up again, the engine cools down, the temperature gauge lowers and the air gets cool again. It runs cold when the car is moving. I have had the entire A/C replaced and the hose which connects my coolant tank to my radiator has fallen off, and put back on a few times. So, why does my car keep getting hot? Why does the air keep getting hot along with it? Is there a correlation between the two?
