i've recently had a argument with a car machanic about some work he did on my car very poorly!.... i've taken my car back to him to be fixed..... and i've noticed on return of my vehichle that some one has been in the oil top up?..... this was not related as the problem was electrical.... me and him had some cross words before he fixed the problem... now i've got it into my head he may have put something into my oil to damage my engine. its running fine no problems and i've checked my oil its normal colour and at a good level.... my question is if he had done something would i be able to tell? would there be odd noises or something? thanks in advance for your help

Who knows? But if you are really worried about it have it flushed, or at least change it.
If it were making odd noises or something, it would probably be too late and damage would already been done.

if the car is running fine and the oil color and level are good then id say youre golden. if you still have a hint he might have been a shmuck and put somthing in your engine, id say go to another place and have the best oil change possible done on your car. meaning, get an oil change where they flush the oil and then clean the engine out thoroughly before putting in new oil. but if he really did put junk into youre engine, you would most likely feel a loss of power, rough idle, or somthing obviously noticable you didn't notice before. i hope this helps... good luck!

you are probably worrying about nothing, but - my sisters ex vandalised her car by putting some grinding paste in the engine, it lasted a hundred miles or so before the engine was dead. It was obvious though cos there was this gritty feeling grease just inside the oil filler cap.

He might say some off color things about you to other people he works with, but I really doubt he'd do something that could land him in court.

Just my opinion.
