Not much. Less than $20.00 I would guess.

A battery will last in general between 3 - 5 years depending on conditions. If your battery does die then yes you will have to jump it off. The best thing to do is go to wal mart and pick up a decent set of jumper cables and keep them in the vehicle at all times. This will help in case you ever have a dead battery but you will also be able to help other drivers too. A replacement battery will typically run about $50-60 for a small car unless it is a Mazda Miata in which case it is more because it is a special battery. However, top of the line batteries can run as much as $200 but you would not need a battery like that unless you live in very cold climates or have a high current amp installed. If you left the lights on for a full 7 hours then it would probably kill the battery. If it did not kill the battery then you would defenitely hear the starter dragging as it tried to crank the vehicle. Chances are you did not leave your lights on or you have a brand new battery installed.

If you do it yourself, like 12-15 bucks. They are pretty easy to do. just start at the battery end and follow it until you reach were it ends, unbolt it, and install new one and run it the same direction the old was back to the battery. Easy.

Oh...anywhere from $30 to $300. It all depends on what you drive, and which cable. ground or power.

go to the autoparts store, they will sell it to you, and if you are extra nice, they might just do it for you, otherwise you can borrow the tools from them to do it yourself, ofcourse with their supervision.
