My rear passenger windows on lower about 6 to 8 inches. Is there a way to completely lower them, a release or lock of some kind?

no the reason is that they are called child safety windows.

they only go down half way so children supposedly cannot hang out of them.

I'm not familiar with the tahoe, however with most vehicles whos rear windows do not go down all the way,......it is because of the shape of the door. There is usually an arch in the rear lower area of the door to accomodate the rear wheel opening. There is actually no place for the window to go because of the shape of the door. This may be the case with the tahoe.

The child safety laws prevent the rear windows from being lowered all the way. You would have to override the limiters on both rear window regulators. I don't know if it has ever been tried. The question I would ask you is why?

yea that does suck, i have one too, its mostly the rear wheel wells that cause this problem even if you bypass the child safety switch you only get like a half a inch and then the window bottoms out on rear inside of the door and ratles when you hit a bump i tried it sorry bud nothin you can do.

let me know if you have any more Q's i;ve been through it all with my tahoe.

That's it for the Tahoe, it's a safety feature to keep small kids from tumbling out.
