Typical cause of clicking noise from the engine is the valve lifters.

Not sure about the Galant, but some engines have valve lifters that can be adjusted to eliminate the noise.

This is a common problem with Mitsu engines. It is the valve lifters. You should have hydraulic lifters. You might want to have the offending lifters replaced at the dealer or a reputable mechanic. Or if you know your way around an engine, you can replace them yourself. You can also run some internal engine cleaner through it and see if that helps eliminate the problem or depending on the mileage, you can try a different weight oil.

Also, just an fyi. try using a Mitsu or Mopar oil filter and try to stay away from the Fram. If you do use a Fram, make sure it has a check valve in it to keep oil at the top of the engine for cold starts.

agree with the one above, but also check pistons.. just because oil is full does not mean it's getting to where it needs to be.. check for gasket leaks....do you smell oil when you start it? What are you blowing out the exhaust pipe? white or black smoke ??
