My son was using my truck and put gas in it.....so he thought. Turns out that the gas station had diesel in the tank instead of gas..so he ended up putting 25 gallons of diesel in the tank..then he drove it a good 30 miles or more.( truck no longer runs) We just found out today about the mix up..just curious if the engine will be ruined. Any input will be helpful.

Engine should be fine, but it needs to be fully "flushed".

And contact the gas station. They're supposed to pay for repairs, and they have insurance for this sort of stuff.

The engine should not have been harmed. Diesel just doesn't burn in a spark engine. The flash point of diesel is so high that it just won't sustain combustion without extremely high compression.

You'll also have to have the whole fuel system cleaned out and replace the filter. The engine should not have been harmed, but you may have to replace the O2 sensor and catalytic converters if they are clogged.

You should prob go to the place you got it from and complain, some gas stations offer a garentee on there gas. Anyways you will have to get all the diesel drained and flushed out of the system. Maybe replace some sparkplugs, small other things. But I would definatly go complain to the gas station and dont take no for an answer

what a pitty he didnt put petrol in a diesel engine ey?...You will need to thoughrely flush the tank and lines with petrol or metholated spirits but not the injecters. The injecters will need to be cleaned and the oil changed.A new set of spark plugs to would be the go....Also yes it will run fine after you flush the system

drain or siphon as much of the fuel out of the tank as possible. put gasoline in the tank, as much as possible. remove the fuel line going to carb. or injectors. place a container of some kind to catch the fuel as you crank it over until you get only gasoline.
