Lab- don't feel bad... I lost BOTH of my badges. I was spending so much time reading all the posts at the "Forum" & the "Violations Appeal Booard " that i wasn't answering either !
But I got one back as soon as I came back & answred a few good Q's
Try not to let the clowns fighting bother you..... They will get the 'rule book' thrown at them eventually.!
In the meantime switch categories to something more FUN !
Heard any good "Jokes & Riddles" lately ? LOL

Lab, Mark F, and the rest:
We are not necessarily here to be popular. Just think of how popular we are in our jobs (hehe). We automotive professionals volunteer our time and expertise to attempt to explain to confused and sometimes panicky people just what a car is and what it does.
Nobody likes feeling ignorant, and some people will find a way to attack the expert when they are confronted with painful truths. We have a duty to share our hard-won expertise with others. We do not, however, have a duty to do that for free. We are all volunteers.
If a questioner actually expects an accurate diagnosis of an car problem, for free, on an online forum, that person gets what s/he deserves.
As for your Top Contributer status, who cares? I, for one, do not do this for points. I do this for fun, and to make a small contribution against The Forces of Ignorance.

I'm sorry to hear that but I certanly know what you mean.
For some reason, every few months some idiot will come along and instead of making a contribution will go after one top contributor or another for reasons that are hard to comprehend. Usually Dodgeman is the target, since he is the top dog but lately of course a certain loser with nothing better to do has come after me - to the point of even hijacking my user name (see the above post) - because I had the audacity to come to Dodgeman's defense. Yahoo has deleted many of his more adolescent posts but they still let him lurk here.
Its disheartening to those of us who are just volunteering a little time to try and help folks out that we have to become the target of such adolescent behavior. I've considered backing out several times but I always realize in the end that it isn't worth giving these weasels the pleasure. Eventually they always get bored and find someone else to annoy anyway.
Unfortunately, the internet attracts losers that have nothing better to do than attack the good efforts of others.
PS
For the record, my crew loves me :)
