I have a 2000 Ford Focus the gear gets stuck in park, wipers go off and on and A/C turns off while driving. While I was driving today my wipers started going on/off by itself. Also the A/C would turn off. My lights wont turn on unless the car gets out of Park. Does anyone else have these problems or am I the only one with a psycho car?

car is 1991 mercedes 350sdl turbo diesel.

it runs nicely but i just noticed this the other day. When lookin at my car from the back, my exhaust pipe looked like it was hanging to the left a little bit.

I took a loo ktoday and I noticed one of the thick rubber black O - rings that hold it onto two hooks had broken completely. The right one is still in tact but I can see major cracks in it. I want to get them replaced asap.

Then I investigated a little furthur. I looked at the pipe leading from the front end of the car into the muffler. Right before it hits the muffler there is about a 2 inch diameter hole. Also, at the spot where the exhaust pipes molds onto the muffler, it is extremely rusted and corroded, and tiny holes are appearing where I can stick a paper clip into the pipe. Will this cause any problems except make my car sound louder - which it doesnt right now so what should I do? Thanks , Tyler

I was adding oil to my car and ended up spilling a decent amount of oil on my sisters car [don't ask how]. Completely forgetting that I'm suppose to put kitty litter on oil stains, I ended up rubbing it all onto the top of the trunk. Thankfully the car is black so it doesn't show up well, but it is still pretty easy to see when you get close. How can I remove the oil? Do I need to use the litter? Any help would be appreciated ASAP!

Well, to make a long story short, my timing belt for my mazda car slipped last spring. I had the timing belt and tensioner replaced at the dealership. Then the car started to make a noise after i drove it on small roads for 10 to 15 minutes. I took it back, they said it was the idler bearings. The car made noises again after driven for 10 to 15 minutes. Then winter came, the car no longer made any noises. Now spring time is here, and the weather is warm again, the car now makes noises again in the timing belt area after it is driven for 10 to 15 minutes on small roads. When the car is driven on freeways, it doesnt seem to make as much noise if not any, this usually only happens while it is driven on small roads, where there is stop and go and during warm seasons such as spring, summer, and fall, but not winter. Does anybody have the solution to this problem? My car is 2000 Mazda Protege Es with 1.8L engine and 4 cylinder.

I just had all four original tires replaced at 106,600 miles with good quality Michellin tires. The original tires were in pretty bad shape and a previous shop mentioned strut replacement, but I think that wear-and-tear just took its toll for too long. I have hit a small curb at low speeds (about 10 mph) with the left (driver-side) tires a couple of times, but I think that the struts took the shock without damage because the "wheel to ground" contact performance seemed fine.

With the new tires, the car drives much smoother in every respect and has no pull to either side. They said that they balanced the tires, but I only saw them put the tires on. They said that I should have a front end alignment everytime I put on new wheels.

What does tire balancing entail?
When do you need to get a wheel alignment (front-end or otherwise)?
How do you know when you need to replace the struts?
What issues should be considered when replacing all of your tires?

I saw a pretty nice system at Pull-a-part (junkyard) and thought about getting it. It wasn't corroded or anything and in good shape. Would this be a good move to make since the engine in my 85 lesabre and the Delta 88 are the same thing???
I don't have equipment to check for leaks or anything to test out the used system...Or should I just get a compressor and try that first???

I'm going to be buying a new set of tires soon, and want to make sure I get something with a solid reputation and build quality.

What, in your opinion, are the top 3 brands of tires in terms of overall quality? (quality being traction, durability, tread life, quiet and comfortable ride, etc.)

Also, would you suggest avoiding off-brands? What are some specific brands you would avoid?

Thank you!

I recently hit a pole/column in a parking garage driving my Scion tC. I have gotten estimates around $1600 to replace a fender, the front bumper, and one of the headlights. I am wondering if it is a good idea to fix it myself (with the guidance of a friend who has mechanical knowledge)? According to the collision centers, my headlight should be replaced because the plastic tabs have been broken where the screws attach underneath the hood. But the light still works and only has minor scratches on the side, and I cannot see a reason why it is necessary to get it fixed right now. Should I purchase the parts myself , do the work myself, and just pay to have it painted??? Do I need to replace the light?

I was driving down the highway last week and my car just turned off. First the radio went off, then the speedometer went to 0 and finally the car just completely shut off. I got the car towed to a shop. They said it was the alternator and alternator cable and replaced it. I picked my car up and it died again 15 minutes after driving. Took my car back to the shop and they hooked the battery up to a tester with the car running. The battery continued to lose power right in front of us. The battery is less than 6 months old. The mechanics have no idea what the problem is.
