How can you test an ignition coil to see if it is working without unhooking your current ignition coil?

Put an inductive timing light on each of the plug wires and see if it triggers the timing light.

pull one of your spark plugs and re-hook the wire lay it on a metal ground and have someone crank your engine over without starting and watch for spark if you get spark your coil is good

Check and see if your getting any spark at the plug.
