Just failed an MOT on the following:
'nearside front suspension joint has excessive play in a lower suspension ball joint [2.5.1a]'
Was quoted 480 quid for replacement and labour! Sounded a bit steep to me, but what do I know! Reason why I'm asking for guidance.
Car is a 1992 Honda Legend 3.2
Many thanks for any info given.

I was going to replace the ignition coil(s) on my Saturn. How many ignition coil(s) are on a Saturn SC2? Is it pretty easy to change them out or is there something special you have to do? I bought 1 high performance Accel ignition coil, is this an easy swap? I ask these, because I've never changed ignition coil(s) before and I usually work on my car myself, so I don't want to pay to take it to a dealer unless I absolutely have to. Thanks. Any other misc. info. about ignition coils is accepted as well, such as where it's/they're located, how much voltage they run, etc.

My car overheated the other day. The only other symptom was that the heater only blew cold air (No water leakage, draining of coolent, etc). The RAC man told me that it was probably the thermostat but the garage say it is the water pump and this costs four times as much!! Can you help? What might it be?

I have an 87 Buick Park Avenue. Lately, I've been having a problem with the fuel (I think). It was completely out of gas when I bought it less than 2 months ago, I put some in (filled, have not put in more since, still have 3/4 tank) and it was fine. Then, over time, it started to shake and act like it would die. This became worse and it would die, but start right back up and drive ok for awhile. Then, it worsened till it would die, start, and immediately die again. We changed to fuel filter, but think there was crud in the tank still. Now, after replacing the filter, I let it run for about 15 minutes in idle, and have driven it less than 12 miles. Tonight, it started fine, then after a bit began to sputter and act like it would die, eventually did and restarted. A few minutes later, it sputtered and died, and when I started it, it would immediately die again. Do I need to change the filter again (sucked more crud from the tank), or what else could it be?

alright some guy at the auto shop told me i need to replace the idler pulley on the ac belt, which i believe the idler pulley is on the timing belt so i call mitsubishi for price quote and they say idler pulling for timing or water pump? i look aat my diagrams for the belts and do not a water pump running on either of my serpentine belt, does it exist? what i think it is is two tensioner pulleys, the mechanic doesnt sound smart but i ve been looking at diagram for a while and it is the top middle pulley in between alternator and crankshaft, what is it called? thanks.

After I start my car and hit the brake for the first time,
in like two seconds 'rear light failure warning' light gets turned on in my dashboard.

It stays on until I turn off the engine.

I went to Toyota dealer shop and they said two tail light bulbs have burned out. But even after they replaced them with new ones, I still have the problem.

Any ideas how to fix it? Thanks

Currently my vehicle has been in service for 120,000 mile service for a major serpentine belt replacement. Also all hoses and new fluids have been added. Bu at stop lights it can run really rough and starts shaking not to mention stop signs. Do you think my car needs a new Transmission? If so how much time will it take installing it and rebuilding the engine.

How about the price tag?

Thanks,

Glnn
