hi, what country are you in? if that diesel goes into the ground you are polluting. unless your car is placed in a special place to collect all that diesel dripping from washing the underbody with a pressure hose. but actually i have seen this done, and find it very unnescesary and bad in the long run. diesel in time will melt and remove the undercoating, soften all rubber bushings and will crack when it dries up. they do this in areas near the ocean. but its no use , the sides of the vehicle will still rust. newer vehicles mechanical parts are now sealed and dont need extra lube except some with grease fittings, which regular lube maintenance is required. so the advise you got is a pre world war ll bad habbit.

i know that mechanics used diesels to washed car parts during overhauling engines and it is a good cleaner but that is not washing underbody because diesel is flammable liquid even it is not volatile than gasoline still it will caught fire on certain temperatures especially on your electrical system like coil,,spark plugs,,high tension wires,,starter motor etc,,,,
and what do you want to lubricate underbody i hope it is not the brake rotor and brake pads and one thing diesel has an effect with rubbers it makes them swollen
hope this helps

total BS.

penetrate to mechanical parts
--okay theres no parts in the underbody, not really

cleaning
-- how about engine degreaser?

lubrication
--if you want to lubricate, do it the right way, with a grease gun.

If someone spews that out, I would question there mechanical ability. They are not a source for advice on cars.

yep, have air conditioning on will lower Ur fuel economy, meaning U will burn more fuel, but any extra load on the engine will burn more fuel, from the air con, to the water pump, to the power steering, even the alternator will increase the amount of fuel U use. if U drive at night Ur fuel economy will be slightly worse than during the day, because U will have U lights on, and the alternator will have to put more power back into the battery air con is most cost effective than opening the windows tho, as this causes drag, making the the whole of the inside of the car act as a mini parachute.

I am a mechanic,I haven't use it in years.,but I use to.

let the car stand after that cleaning to make the diesel dissipate and dry out.

i've heard of that before, but isn't it a bit dangerous? think about it, what if it gets caught on fire? an easier way is go to those self serve carwash and use those decreaser there and use high pressure water to rise them off. Becareful of where u spray tho, u don't want too much water near ur spark plugs or distrubitor :D
