10W-30 will do just fine. Just top it up and you're good until 4500 - 5000 miles.

The owners manual should say. Putting in a a half quart of 5w30 will be fine. If it is not the same, it is close enough. Won't hurt. Though since you just dropped 25k on a new car, you may not want to experiment. You can never change the oil too often. I think on a new engine that is still being broke in, you should change it more fuequently, and for best engine longevity, do it every 3000. If I had a 07 Impala I would trade it in for a V8 RWD Impala in late 2008 when they come out, so It wouldn't matter to me!

Just go get it changed and they'll tell you what brand of oil they put in your car, the dealer doesn't know your car, you do your the one driving it all the time. Plus 500 miles goes fast, by the time you make an appointment and get there you should be pretty close to 4500k

They lie! 3mo. or 3000mi. whichever comes first. You won't hurt it by having too clean of oil in there. Always follow the severe service intervals. The regular service intervals only apply if you live in fairyland, or utopia. Your owners manual will have a chart that shows what oil to use for your climate, and a chart for all the recommended service intervals.

Check the owners manual.

Some cars also have stickers on the end of the door with specs like oil type and tire pressure too.

Go ahead and get your oil changed. Your vehicle handbook will tell you what oil to use. Also, most oil caps on the engine now tell you what oil to use. 500 miles is not going to matter get it done now.
