the rear heater light comes on and the for light light comes on and one of my back lights does not work , then sometimes it all of a sudden starts to work

You need to check the fuse/relay plate. They are very suseptable to corrosion and when they corrode they send the electrics mad. If you check it you will see green and white fur sticking out trough the terminals and the fuses and relay won't pull out.

Check this first and this is a commen fault. The escorts are also prone to leak water into the boot and into the tailgate and this can cause problems too.

If it is the relay plate DON'T buy one from ford as they are a fortune. Find a good one in a breakers of scrap yard.

It's a wiring problem.
Could be a bad earth connection, which would cause the rear heated window light to come on - does it come on only faintly?

rear wiper motor is bad as far as the back up lite its maybe a bulb or the socket has a short

loose wiring or bad connections, if it is a hatch back it usually goes where the wires run from door to frame from all the movment.

there's a problem with the wiring's.. short circuits maybe.
