I have a 1998 Ford Taurus and the other day while i was driving the car stopped. I got the car towed. The mechanic told me a belt was broken. the mechanic fixed the sererptine belt on it and it was fine. On the way home the car died again. I got it started and took it to auto zone. They checked the battery and i had to replace it. The car ran for half a day and died again. Now people say that is could be the alternator. While I drive the car the battery light comes on and and off. what could be the problem. When i get a jump start it comes on for about 2 minutes and dies ago. I could really use some help on this problem.

Just this evening, after loading up my trunk with my briefcase and a case of CD's, neither the remote, the glove compartment button, nor the key will open the trunk. I have to go in through the rear seats to access it. There appears to be no manual opening mechanism located inside the trunk. And I can't find a way to release the locking mechnism. Any help?!?
using the key- the key won't turn
using glove compt button- latch doens't even make a sound
using remote- doors lock and unlock fine, but no action on the trunk

I checked all the fuse and all were good. The heater gets warm while idling, but cools down while driving, could it be the thermostat? Thank you 65 yr old granny.

I'm driving along at 55/65 in 5th gear and out of the blue the engine bogs and stops...then regains R.P.M. as though nothing has happened.

This has only happened 4 times, but in the last couple weeks intervals . And when the problem occurs it's unexpectant without any warning and the engine picks up as though nothing has ocurred ,and in a couple seconds.

All four times have been in fifth gear at around 50/65 mph. The rev. otherwise is responsive and tacs out great.

New plugs/ points/ rotor/ wires/ destrib/ timming belts/ water pump/ oil seals/ to mention a few.



I have a code reader that shows system ok, and no codes are registered on board.

Don't want to go to the local dealership, as the last time I was there I paid lota $$$$

And when you drive up they seem to know in advance your "stumped" and play your knowledge as to "what seems to be your problem"?

Anyone have any ideas or have had this sort of thing happen? Thanks for any help...its appreciated!

I bought new brakes and complained about some noise my car made on acceleration, well it was my motor mount- it was almost completely cracked all the way around it.

I was just wondering what the heck could have happened had it completely broken?what's it for?

The car only has 94k miles on it and really hasn't given me any problems. I've heard of them actually stalling out in some occasions? Is there any way i could fix this without an expensive repair? Thanks!

What a piece of garbage. It is one year old with 12,000 miles on it. Haven't had a flat or anything. Don't really drive it like a d-bag. Out of the blue the steering wheel began shaking 2 days ago. My car did get stuck in snow the night before I noticed this. WHAT THE EFF

took 45 minutes to start it when jumped. Ran 45 minutes turned off went somewhere three hours satarted right up..drove 20 miles turned off an hour later started right up. Today went out totally dead. Brother came with battery then said it was not the battery but alternator. Got it to their house to fix tomorrow by bringing a sparwe battery. Stopped at auto zone and checked battery..called saying they don't know what it is as something (battery I think but maybe alternator) when they chwecked it (I think it wasn't dead like they thought..seemed ok then phone went dead. I am very worried as I need a car (disabled no busline) and do NOT have mney to buy and try several things only to find out it still does not work. What are the things it could be/ Please advise as I only make $600 on disability and even 50 or 100 is a lot for me.

it will not engage for some reason. it will shift into all gears easily and lights will come on indicating its in that gear. but when i step on the gas, only back wheels spin. what could be the problem?

Does it still hold true, that a new vehicle should be broken in for the first 1000 miles by not taking it over 60 mph and requiring it to be exposed to different driving conditions?

I've heard this said since I was a boy, but i'm not sure if it's one of those old traditions that are obsolete by today's new car standards.
