lets your engine breathe better thus giving you a couple more hp and it will make more noise.

A muffler reduces the engine sound to legal levels. Depend on you state. If your muffler is too loud you can get a ticket. Also if your car requires a SMOG test you need to make sure the muffler is legal for this. As some mufflers reduce the back pressure so much it messes up the air pollution control equipment.

O.E.M. (original equipment manufacturers) mufflers are the standard units that came on your car when you purchased it new. I'm guessing that is what your referring to as street muffler. There are dozens of choices out there. Most large single non -baffled inner core mufflers reduce back pressure. My favorite is the Dunomax Super Turbo Mufflers. Notched straight through inner core with an oval stainless steel housing. Very deep guttural growl on acceleration and deceleration.You would feel a tad more power and if you combined it with a K&N airfilter you'd get a second boost.

No, a full cat back does.
Replaces the Cattilac* Convertor. and tubing, and muffler.
Muffler has a nice sound. however on older cars it won't do much until you have a new cat'. Just get one if you want a nice sound coming from it. But with out the cat' converter ten it won't do you as much of a gain.

if you get a bolt on no it just makes it loud, if you get the whole cat back exhaust then yea it gives u slightly more hp , increases the air flow
