I checked the trans fluid, and it was pretty much empty. So I added some in, and then it would shift into reverse and all that. So it's the transmission, right? But... when I pull out of the garage, I sometimes find a fluid puddle underneath it. Is that probably transmission fluid? Does that mean that I have to have the transmission pan sealed up because there's probably a leak in it? What should I do?

My girlfriend and a friend of hers went to the gas station today to inflate the tires in her 2003 Acura TL. When they inflated the tires, reportedly one of the nozzles was dysfunctional and leaked air when the top was taken off. They decided to swap it for the spare tire, so her friend jacked up the car on the stock jack and took off the front passenger tire. The car then slipped off the jack and the front of the car hit the ground. What kind of damage might this have done to the car? All I can think of is wheel alignment. Oh yeah, and she drove back to her apartment with the flat.. (one block). Tire okay?

So tired of this happening. Basically, if I don't use my car for (I wouldn't even call it this) an extended amount of time, say, a week, the car battery simply dies! I have a subwoofer hooked up to the battery but I can verify that the amp is not left on. What should I do?

I checked to day to see if I have a blown head gasket, compressions were correct and plugs were clean. However I am still having trouble with overheating and no heat. I put in a new thermostat and had the system flushed. I am losing some fluing and now I notice there is no draw from the reserve tank nor is there a good flow out of the radiator drain. If I fill the radiator with coolant or water I will have heat for 20 minutes but then it blows cold air. There is littl pressuer in the hoses. I do not know what to have checked next.

My 1997 Hyundai with 150,000 miles has tapping/clunk noises when hitting light objects at low speeds. A great example would be driving on a snowy road or a road with alot of pot holes. However, when I go to speeds above 70 MPH, there is no noise. Could it be that I need new Struts or Tie Rod end?

So far, we have spected the fan switch, the radiator, the hoses, checked the coolant levels, and even when everything is present and in new condition, the damn thing keeps overheating. It is very stressful. I can't buy a new car until later this year, and I drive everywhere for work. I must drive about 80 miles a day. ouch...

I have a Volvo S40. Sometimes not often when I go to start it it just wont. All of the lights and radio and stuff come on but it wont even make a sound to turn over. I changed the started and it's doing it again. when I changed the starter the repair guy said the starter and the battery check out as fine. What else could it be? Spark plugs, Battery? What?

My last brake pads worn out in less than 20,000 miles. My new brake pads have less than 10,000 miles on it. It seems my brakes are fading quickly and there is nearly no life left on it. What might be the problem? Things that I should check? I did check brake fluid, but nothing is wrong. Anything else?

The car has been parked in the driveway, outdoors in a northern climate. It was in excellent running conditioin when left. I know it will need a battery jump, but my big concern is fluids, lube and ignition. I don't want to blow the motor!

I'm not very knowledgable with car-speak so please bare with me here. Tonight I was driving home from work and didn't get very far before I noticed that my breaks were not working right. I would hit my break but my car kept going. Then after I parked I noticed that my car was still reving up even though my foot was not on the gas pedal. And, it was reving hard, going up to the 4 on the meter. Right now my car is parked but what I really want to know is if I will need to get it towed or if it is something that is an easy fix. Maybe it's related to all the snow and ice we just got here in Pennsylvania? My dad says that it sounds like the clutch is stuck but if that is the case, how can I find out for certain and how is it fixed?

I have a ball joint in my hand that is rusty and can be moved around easily and seems to grind. The 'ball' in the 'joint' seems to be too small for the 'joint'. A lot of room. This is the condition a dealer sold my son a car in and marked it Suspension Legal..yes. Seems like there should be grease or rubber or SOMETHING in there to stop the metal on metal.

i have a 04 nissan sentra with about 58k on it. i have noticed that on some occasions the car takes too long to start. when i turn the key it will crank for about a good 6 or 7 seconds before firing up. this problem is not only in wet weather or cold weather.
i used to have this problem with my 94 but that's after letting it sit for more than a day. it turned out to be the fuel pump.
with the 04, the car could be sitting for less than 30 mins and still have a tough time starting. what's wrong here?

thanks.

for the last 2 months the padle will almost go all the way to the floor if you keep on pumping the padle when preparing to stop. does it every once in a great while. like air in the system or master cylinder going bad. took it to brake check. they did not think it was air or a bad master cylinder going bad. it does it like once every other day for one time only, once you stop it will not do it.
