My last brake pads worn out in less than 20,000 miles. My new brake pads have less than 10,000 miles on it. It seems my brakes are fading quickly and there is nearly no life left on it. What might be the problem? Things that I should check? I did check brake fluid, but nothing is wrong. Anything else?

I've seen this happen very frequently if the caliper is sticking.

Some time, the piston isn't retracting all the way when you let off the brakes, which means the pads are held pretty firmly against the rotors while you're driving.

More common is sticking caliper bolts. The caliper slides on the mounting bolts when the brakes are applied. If the bolts are galled, corroded, or very dirty, the caliper cannot move back into normal position. Usually this is noticeable by checking the pads. If the piston side is dramatically thinner than the outboard pad, you've got either a sticking piston (replace caliper), or sticking bolts (replace bolts).
