There's this used car I like that I'm thinking about buying. Well, I looked under the hood and checked it out and I noticed that the transmission fluid seems to be thin and has bubbles in it. So, what does that mean????

1) Dealerships (the service center of a Chrysler, Honda, Toyota, etc...)
2) Independent repair shops (Midas, Mr. Lube, Active Green Ross, etc...)
3) Small repair shops (Those small repair shops usually named with someone's first name... Where you can fit about 2 cars only.)

Where do you usually have your car repaired?

Hello,

I have spent all yesterday waxing my car with three coats and today it looks like it is going to rain.

Unfortunately the car has to be driven in the rain and parked for a while but what can I do when I bring it home to remove all the rain / dust? Can I juse use a chamois or will that leave scratches and dust? I want to be able to remove the grime but not the wax I just applied. Is there some products out there that can do this? I have heard of a waterless washing system spray? I am afraid this might remove the wax though and I will have to reapply it.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got into an accident with my pick up truck and the front end is smashed in. ( I hit a concrete wall) It doesn't look like there is damage to the engine. If they fix the frame will it still have the same towing capacity? Is it safe??

After the car warms up and is just sitting while idling, there is a little bit of smoke that comes out from the tailpipe. It gradually gets thicker, but never enough to cloud up the driveway and make folks think you are driving a smog-machine.

The smoke has that classic "exhaust" smell that will knock you off your feet if you breathe it for very long. It's not black smoke, but I can't tell if it's white or blue.

Any idea if I'm looking at oil burning or coolant contamination?

1995 Dodge Ram 3.9 V6 with 225,000 miles
Water pump went out replaced with lifetime warranty pump from Auto Zone.
I drove it after installing pump and I have a very loud fan noise. I put on a new fan clutch. I still have same fan noise sounds like fan on a Mack truck. Also now the temp will get to 225 then cool down to 200 then heat right back up at higher speeds.
Could Auto Zone have gave me a bad fan clutch or did I do something wrong?
How much resistance should fan have when cold? Now I tap fan and it stop immediately both cold and hot.
Basically I just replaced water pump and now I have this very loud fan. The fan actually louder than engine when I take off.

I just picked up this little car, (for $500, mind you) and it's quite a different animal from my Chrysler Town & Country! The first thing I noticed is that when you hit a bump, you feel it all over, and you actually hear the back end of the car go WHAM! I checked the shocks, and their good, though.

What's bothering me is this noise from the rear wheels. After you get up to about 10mph, there is a roaring noise from the rear wheels that gets louder the faster you go. After about 45mph, the roaring turns into a pulsating hum-rrr-hum-rrr-hum-rrr-hum-rrr-hum that you can feel all over the car's frame.

After removing the rear wheels, and spinning the brake drums you can hear a grinding noise (metal to metal) sound coming from both sides, driver and passenger.

Any ideas? I'll replace both if I need to, but if anyone knows if this sounds more like a brake shoe problem or a wheel bearing problem, I'd love to hear!

it comes in like a hospital life line in 4 sets of 5 beeps we he turns the car on. we don't know what it is or if it's dangerous or not. it's not the seatbelt beep, that's all we know.
there's no indicator light for it either
just a beep
can you tell me what it is and if it's dangerous? thanks we really appreciate it

My car starts ok, but immediately dies if I do not step on the gas. As long as I give the engine gas the car is ok, but the second it let off the idle doesn't kick in and the engine cuts off.

I know it's not the battery because the car starts right up, and I don't have any anti-theft device that would artificially cut gas to my engine. I think it's just not idling. Is this a clogged fuel injector or what? And what's the first step?
