My car starts ok, but immediately dies if I do not step on the gas. As long as I give the engine gas the car is ok, but the second it let off the idle doesn't kick in and the engine cuts off.

I know it's not the battery because the car starts right up, and I don't have any anti-theft device that would artificially cut gas to my engine. I think it's just not idling. Is this a clogged fuel injector or what? And what's the first step?

Hey the vacuum may me right but i would also check your fuel pump. If it's a newer model then the fuel pump is most likely located in the gas tank . It's also electric so check any wires and fuses that may be attached to the fuel pump. also check your fuel filter, if it's clogged you can get those same effects you described. It's most likely a in line pump. which is to say it's in the fuel line. it's not hard to replace and not expensive but I'd do it when my fuel tank is not full. you may have dirty injectors, for this you can put some STP injector cleaner or other brand injector cleaner in your gas tank. i just did this and can tell a real difference i hope this helps.

Yup....Vacuum leak at the intake.
Listen for a sucking noise at idle. Probably a small hose came off.

Idle air control needs cleaning, or a vacuum leak-2 possibilities. There are more.
