Where does that connect on the motor? Can a standard harness plug into that? Note- Starter and reverse lights are each on their own manual toggle switches. Does wiring harness affect shifting at all? Since starter and reverse lights are on own toggle switches can this harness be eliminated completely? If it can, that would be great. These are parts coming out of a 74 lincoln going into a pulling truck.
Thank you so much, we normally don't have this much trouble, but this motor has really got us stumped.

That transmission should be a C6 and the only wiring should be for the backup light and neutral safety switch. It should run fine without the harness.

You need to give us more info when asking for help. If you mean the electrical connector for the back-up lights and the neutral safety switch it is on the drivers side above the linkage that goes through the trans housing. Good luck.
