My 1997 Hyundai with 150,000 miles has tapping/clunk noises when hitting light objects at low speeds. A great example would be driving on a snowy road or a road with alot of pot holes. However, when I go to speeds above 70 MPH, there is no noise. Could it be that I need new Struts or Tie Rod end?

Could be and could be the rubber on the font end at the ball joint is worn out, many things after this kind of mileage. I have that problem on my dodge minivan, not so many miles but I just live with it right now. I'll take care of it when I can afford it and do without it for a couple of days and have to drive it everyday. Right not it will hold up and so will I. lol

It could be ball joints, tie rods, struts, strut bearing plates, stabilizer links, or a number of other culprits. Since several of these are critical to keeping the wheel assembly attached to the car, go to a repair shop you trust and get the front end checked. If you've never lost a tie rod or ball joint trust me, you don't want to. There are some things which cannot wait to be fixed. If your shop won't give you a free estimate you may want to change garages. Best of luck.
