I worked in automotive for 10 years. It's not the place you want to be. Sure, the pay is great and so are the benefits, but the auto industry is going down fast. Chrysler is looking to slash tons of jobs here in the next 2 years. Layoffs are everywhere and businesses are closing left and right.

Did u not hear the news. FORD is laying off white and blue collard workers, GM doesnt know what to do and Chrysler is laying off 13,000 people in the next three years. I should know i live in Cleveland, Ohio and people are losing their jobs from all 3 major car manufactures. ill give a piece of advice move to China there are plenty of car manufactoring jobs there. lol. I know Honda in southern Ohio is hiring people. GOOD LUCK!

Take my advise ----- getting a job today on the automotive production line is almost impossible with the automotive downturn. Find another line of work. Even if you do get a job on the line at some point in time ---- you will be the first to be laid off and sometimes its months before you get back to work ( if at all)
Good luck but the automotive industry is not very lucrative anymore.

Hate to say this but FORGET IT. I live in Michigan and about to loose my job this week. Michigan is no place to look for a job. This state is shot. All KINDS of layoffs. And more to come. I'm planning on moving out of state for a job.

Auto workers union. They will have a training course you will have to go through, then they will find you a job.
