I own a 1995 Geo Metro - it has been squealing loudly when I put it into neutral to warm it up - live in central canada where it is cold temperatures - had all the belts tightened - after leaving it in a shop overnight so they could cold start it - and did it again a week after as it continued to do this - the squealing stops once the car is warmed up - but the belts are definitely slipping (can smell the hot rubber smell) and I don't want to be caught on the side of the highway at 1 am - especially now in the winter... Should I just tell the shop to replace the drive belt or? Appreciate your answers

Looking to use b-12 chemtool to flush engine. (It was driven for 4200 miles without an oil change, and the last time the oil was changed, penzoil was used.) Label says to put 6 ounces in a cool engine, idle car for 3-5 minutes, then immediately drain oil. Of course, I would change the filter at this time as well. It has been a long time, but I think I heard something in the past, something like 'those engine flushes will cause damage to gaskets', or something similar. I am wondering if this is true, will flushing the engine with this stuff cause damage or extra wear of any kind? Thanks.

My car (98 Tuarus) was snowed in for two days, since then ( 5 days) my back brakes have been making a grinding noise and feel like they are not releasing. It has been warmer the last two days (48 degrees) but I had no brake problems before they were packed with snow. What has happened? What can I do about it?
Could it be simple like fluid or do I have to have everything replaced? I have stopped driving it as today it seemed to be getting worse.

i have a 99 ford taurus that i know has a busted head gasket, we have used 2 different things to try to seal it up and it doesn't appear to be working. well, we don't drive it far or long but yesterday my husband was driving it and it sounded fine but then all of a sudden it started knocking and there was a big *boom* and i died, now when we try to crank it all you hear is a click. so i was wondering if we possibly could have blew the motor or could it have been something else? also i would like to know ways to check if the motor is blown? i looked at the oil dip stick and there isn't any metal in it. it wasn't smoking or anything. and no leaks either.

I have an old '87 Dodge Aries Wagon which is slowly going down the tubes. There is an oil leak because of a broken gasket so I'll be taking it to my mechanic this Tuesday to get that fixed and also to just get it serviced. Usually I have this done only once a year. Should this be done more often?

I changed the gasket myself and it was missing bad when I started it. CEL came on so I hooked OBD II checker and it said P0204 misfire 4 cylander and P0304 open circuit 4 cylander fuel injector.

Changed plugs and wires already.

It's like the fuel injector is stuck open because it's fouling the plug and gas is coming out of the exhaust. Any goodway to ops check the injector? Other suggestions? Thanks.

2002 pontiac Grand Prix. Recent Ice storm. Husband says I f'ed up the motor by using the wipers while there was ice down inside. The wipers don't obstruct my view, but cops in Jersey could write me a ticket for it. Is it an easy fix myself, or do I have to pay $$$ to have it done? I'm quite handy when it comes to cars, if I knew what to do I'd like to try to fix it myself!

We cannot find our Honda 99 brakelights fuse. We check both front side panels and the casing where the engine is and still can't find a fuse listing rear brakelights. Anyone have an idea where else i can look?

also our fuse for the night display light keeps burning out. we replaced it three times this week! is this a more serious electrical problem?

When my car is in gear, it runs extremely rough...same as when it's idoling and in reverse. Neutral seems to be the only time it runs smooth. Everyone seems to have a different solution...I personally think it's the motor mounts...but I wanted to see if there were any ideas before I start replacing stuff or go broke with mechanics.

I have a 12 volt windlass (winch). I would like to be able to select direction of rotation using a switch. Being a D.C. motor I thought I could do this by simply reversing the wires powering it. I was using a battery charger to test my theory, it rotated clockwise fine but when I reversed the leads all I got was a buzz sound. Any suggestion's? Thank's

I was told that the reason my vehicle keeps stalling when i press the gas pedal was the muffler is all clogged up. *advise from a local machanic* at first we thought it was the fuel pump. Any advise anyone??
