Looking to use b-12 chemtool to flush engine. (It was driven for 4200 miles without an oil change, and the last time the oil was changed, penzoil was used.) Label says to put 6 ounces in a cool engine, idle car for 3-5 minutes, then immediately drain oil. Of course, I would change the filter at this time as well. It has been a long time, but I think I heard something in the past, something like 'those engine flushes will cause damage to gaskets', or something similar. I am wondering if this is true, will flushing the engine with this stuff cause damage or extra wear of any kind? Thanks.

Also, if it is bad to use b-12, then how about marvel mystery oil?

I'm not familiar with b-12, but it appears that it is similar to most additives and cleaners in that it will likely not clean any thing but your wallet. I did find a site that discusses it and list it below. You are better off changing the oil earlier next time, and always change or filter at the same time. One thing that I do not like about cleaners is that if indeed they did loosen up deposits, don't you think the first place they might come out of is the filter?

Marvel Mystery Oil has been around a long time and a lot of people swear by it. I saw an old timers set-up. He had a small reservoir installed that feed directly into the bottom of his carburetor to keep his valves lubed. Most people use it as an oil additive.
