picked up car 2 days later... feel wobble and pull over to check tires and lug nuts are all loose!!! I call dealer and they say its closing time cant help me so I should call tomorrow. SO i call manager he gets us a loaner car and has the truck towed back to the dealer. Today I was accusted of loosening the lug nuts!

Yeah, thats not good. Lug nuts that are not tightened are notorious for causing the bolt to break. Although thats not a hard or expensive task for a mechanic to replace, it is slightly time consuming. I forgot to tighten my lug nuts once and wound up with two broken bolts. As long as the bolts aren't broke or bent, then simply tightening them with the lug wrench in the trunk will work do the trick.... But yes, that is a very serious safety issue.... But they probably said that you loosened them to avoid implicating themselves into a legal issue. As long as none of the bolts broke or bent, then you are in business after they get tightened. If any are broke or bent, then I'd get them to replace it.... But if you're trying to get a lawsuit going for negligence on something that didn't happen, then you are probably gonna waste your time. It's your word against theres.... You can't prove it. Even though you know they didn't tighten them, thats not technically proof. Just because you say they were not tightened, doesn't mean its true, in a judge's eyes.

The failing of tightening your lug nuts was the responsibility of a 8-12 dollar an hour employee. He might have been busy, on drugs, or who knows... I'd at least let the manager know what happen so you can talk to his crew....

If the dealer gets surly, you can file a formal complaint with the district maintenance representative (Ford?). If you get the run around there, of course there are other avenues, but make sure you stand up to them.

The media might be interested. Call them(newspaper, television, whichever) and see what they say. Call the Better Business Bureau. Find out what a Lawyer has to say too.

I stopped taking my car to the dealership many years ago, I also can't stand the way they treat their customers, especially on top of the fact their prices are the highest.

You should have tightened them when you first realized they were loose. You can complain to the "Better Business Bureau" about this incident and this dealer....

if you have full coverage turn it over to your insurance comapny letting them know that it was thshops fault and they will take care of the lawsuit, if not contact a lawyer as soon as you can and talk it over with him. Good luck

You need to stand your ground on this one,,,even threaten a law suit,,the mechanic at the dealership will probably lie his *** off to save his job,,so the blame will come back on you.
