We cannot find our Honda 99 brakelights fuse. We check both front side panels and the casing where the engine is and still can't find a fuse listing rear brakelights. Anyone have an idea where else i can look?
also our fuse for the night display light keeps burning out. we replaced it three times this week! is this a more serious electrical problem?

i'm a moron. it's the tail lights that are out. not the brakelights.

try looking on the drivers kick panel. near the drivers feet to the left.
NEVER, never, NEVER ever install a fuse with a higher rating. the risk of creating more expensive problems is clear.
the fuse protects the circuit.
for example, hypothetically say there is a wire rubbing on a metal bracket behind the instrument cluster for the night display. when that bare wire rubs on the bracket it causes a short to ground and the fuse 'opens' to prevent that wire from melting and possibly the cluster and the rest of the car maybe. a higher rated fuse will take longer to open and may not open at all depending how much that wire is rubbing.
i think my explanation is a little inept but if you want to see what happens on a larger scale to better understand, take a long metal object like a large wrench and hold it from the positive to the negative side on the battery under the hood.
if you're really into pain, don't use any gloves.
even better, do it while the car is running.
also, you didn't specify what model.
i think most hondas are on the left kickpanel.
just found that it is fuse #10 on accord in the passenger side fuse panel. the label on the panel is 'small light license light'.
if tail lights not working, maybe pinched wire if new tail lite lenses installed within past few weeks?

Well..there are many of places it could be. 1 is on the side of your dashboard between your drivers door and the dashboard. The other..like you mentioned would be under the hood. Anther place would be UNDER the dashboard hidden underneath the steering wheel. Or also inside of the Glove box. If you do find the fuse..and it's not blown. check your bulb. Some bulbs are dual bulbs. It may just be the resister inside of your light bulb for your lights that are out.

I can not help you with the brake light fuse, but I've had the burned out fuse problem many times on my older cars (my newest is older than yours lol).
What I do about that, is stick a fuse in with the next highest amp rating, and that usually takes care of it. So, for example, if it's a 15a fuse, use a 20a fuse from here on out... You take a slight chance that it won't protect your circuitry when it should, but if there exists a more serious electrical problem then the 20a fuse will burn out also and now you know for sure... If, otoh, it doesn't burn out, then it's just the usual older car bugs and nothing to worry about.

ok look under the dash or in the glove box there should be more fuses there u might have to remove a small panel about 5 to 8 inches wide just pop it out and if it keeps blowing out there is a short somewhere a wire is touching start looking in your trunk because if u get in there alot u might have damaged a wire

It's OK, honey. We all have our weaknesses. for example, I can never find my keys no matter what I try.
Anyway, the fuse list is in your owners manual. Just look in the index under 'fuse' and there will be a map to all fuses. Lights will be very easy to find.
