The noise is probably the blower, or a bit of debis in the vent intake. The odor is most likey a bad heater hose. quite often a bad heate hose will eject steam through the firewall opening and into the plenum (the box where the heater core and ac evaporator is) there is also a small drain tube in the plenumthat tends to ge clogged, allowing mold to grow in the plenum. between the 2 problems, it can really stink. The heater core it-self rearely goes bad but is also a possibility.

It could possibly be your heater core. That is located right underneath and inside your dashboard...usually on the passenger side. If that is leaking. It would have a strong smell. That smells like Anti-freeze. And could possibly be coming through your heater vents. A good way to just take a visual look at this is to feel your floor board near the front of the car on the passenger side. If that has a wet spot. It could be that. sometimes it doesn't leak there. But sometimes it does.

maximum in all hazard reason could be "detonation" or a situation that exists whilst the gasoline air mixture ignites or combusts upfront. Being as though the ignition timing is controlled by potential of the computing gadget in that motor vehicle it might lead me to suspect this is isn't firing on the right time or that in line with hazard some cylinder head artwork has been performed specifically the heads might have been machined too far inflicting a combustion concern. try working some octane enhance (reliable stuff like the 104) and notice what occurs. If the noise lessens or disappears it must be an trouble-free answer. If it fairly is accompanied by potential of the lack of ability of power examine for a plugged catalytic converter this might additionally be an argument. All in all you will maximum in all hazard ought to take it in and notice what the ignition timing is doing to verify precisely what the reason being.

Super easy, your heater core has a pinhole leak and needs to be replaced. The Taurus is probably not too easy to do, So I'd call around to at least 3 shops for an estimate, Heater core replacement. can range from 200 bucks to 400 bucks. do it your self for about 50 (cost of the core).

i own a repair shop, and i i think what it might be doing is spitting coolant back in the reservoir bottle on it,and you,ll smell the fumes off it sometimes, if the engine is real hot,its either that or you have a heater core going bad on it,and if it is you,ll have to start adding coolant to it a lot,so keep a good check on it,don't let it over heat on you ,it will do more damage than you want to repair, good luck i hope this help,s.

I think you have a coolant loss,,causing an overheat situation.
You will almost certainly smell antifreeze when your cooling system is overheated.
Get it pressure tested,,before you blow the head gasket and have to pay big time.
