When considering a car's repair, the best answer is to first find the car's blue book value, at http://www.kbb.com/

Once you know the value of your car, it's a simple process:
If the repair runs more than the car is worth, it would be more cost effective to buy another car.

In the meantime, perhaps you might start thinking about doing a lot of repairs and maintenance yourself, most of us can't afford mechanic rates.

No,unless you can't afford a newer model. You gotta draw the line on how bad you want to keep the vehicle. I had a Chevy Blazer I dumped a couple thousand into for repairs, but it was a fun drive off roading.

That is a preference issue really. After 3000, does it run well now, drive well, and start with no coaxing? You may have already taken care of the horror stories now, so it's a matter of whether it "feels" reliable now.

You don't say what kind of parts you have replaced. There is a good chance you will not have to replace any of these parts again. I would be tempted to sell it and get a decent price with all your maintance records and all.

No. It's become a money pit; if you're willing to spend that amount of money, get yourself another car.
