There is a 92' Ford Taurus that i am working on. The ignition lock cylinder moves from the off to the start postion effortlessly and is not moving the igniton switch to start the car. I believe the problem is a broken steering column rack, which engages the ignition switch via a small rod like shaft controlled by the ignition lock cylinder postion. do anyone know anything about this and instructions on replacing the rack. I've searched all over and cannot find instructions, even from dealer technicians.

I have a 99 Chevy Cavalier which has 85K miles on it. The only maintenance I've done on it have been preventive maintenance such as routine oil changes and tire rotations and nothing else. Any advice will be appreciated! ~ Wayne

I was very meticulous and I have the Haynes manual for it. Everything is put back together properly. It was running when I pulled it into the shop. I tore it down, changed the head gaskets, and put her back together. Now there is no spark. Suggestions please.

99 mercury sable ... car slowly looses power after being jump started .... it starts with bogus indiator lights coming on the dash (ABS failure, Airbag failure) and all the dials on the dash go to zero. Eventually the car will sputter off ... if the key is turned to start the car all I hear is a series of fast clicks with no response from the starter.

Battery and alternator has already been replaced ... 3 mechanics were able to get the car to run idle wthout a battery .... proving the intergrety of the alternator. But when driving down the street ... it may last 1 hour at best. (temp issue?)

So, if the same exact thing is happening with 2 new batteries and a new alternator ... I would thnk the problem lies within the wiring ... which brings me to this million dollar question.

If I run a copper cable from the pos terminal of the alternator to the pos terminal of the battery, will that rule out any connection problems.

I drove my Accord home one evening and it was running fine. Got up the next morning to go to work and it would turn over, but not start. Battery is fine. Have replaced distributor cap and rotor, but there is no fire coming from the distributor. What could be the problem?

i keep geting a code showing a leen mixture in bank 2 with a random misfire, when actualy testing it shows an actual overly rich mixtuer so i think its the vcm but dont know for sure. this has proven to be costly because replascing differant things that dont fix the real problem just doesnt work. so if theres anyone out there that know anything about the actual actions of the vcm unit it would be helpfull ????

Hi, i got a problem with my 95' nissan sentra. when im on heavy traffic i noticed that the car's rpm is slowing down.. while waiting for the green light.. from 900 rpm it goes down till the engine stops.. i already increased the rpm. but still no effect.. it's like it loses power when you are not stepping on the gas. so i keep on stepping on the gas to keep the engine running... is there something wrong with parts like spark plugs? guess i havent change it for a year..

What can I do to fix it. It's not bad. I need to inflate the tire very 3 weeks. But little by little, it deflates. Should I get it fixed? Is there any spray to cover it up? I really don't want to buy a complete new tire for a small crack. I'm just afraid the tire might blowout or something. Let me know!

My van has multiple problems. First there is a noise, that sounds like the power steering pump. On further inspection someone told us that it was the alternator pulley. Recently it started overheating, and the low coolant light came on. We filled it with coolant, and still overheating. Then the water pump went out, replaced it right away. Now we have water in the oil. When driving a short distance it starts wanting to stop, and when it does, it doesn't start. I have to wait for awhile, then it starts back up. I haven't had it checked by a mechanic yet. I was wondering what it could be? I don't know anything about cars. I will be taking it to a mechanic shop soon. Just wanted to know ahead of time what the could be wrong with my van.

I have been driving this used car for about 30k without any problems. Now there is squeaking, squealing noise coming from the belt area. I do see the 2 belts and thats where the noise comes from and its more when in Drive or Reverse (and stays at constant, same noise level). Should I just replace these two belts or could the noise be coming from something esle ? Also, should I take it to the BMW dealer or any good repair shop be able to diagnose, fix this problem ?

Thanks
