There is a 92' Ford Taurus that i am working on. The ignition lock cylinder moves from the off to the start postion effortlessly and is not moving the igniton switch to start the car. I believe the problem is a broken steering column rack, which engages the ignition switch via a small rod like shaft controlled by the ignition lock cylinder postion. do anyone know anything about this and instructions on replacing the rack. I've searched all over and cannot find instructions, even from dealer technicians.

Ill leave it on my web for a few days for ya

I believe there is a thin rod which runs through the column from the ign switch mechanical (key part) to the ign switch electrical part. it would be easier to examine the electrical end first
to see if the rod is still attached to THAT end

The lock cylinder is broken inside, it's very easy to replace this. You will have to remove all the plastic from around the column and steering wheel. Then you will need a torqx bit to remove the screws which will allow the ign. cylinder, a new one is around $15.00
