Yeah cooks n cars is right. Even a regular steel bolt should never rust enough to cause serious damage if you change your fuel filter at normal intervals. Every 50,000 miles should be more than sufficient. Byt if you are really anal about it, stainless would do it.

I can only assume that the bold was dropped into the tank. If the filler opening is large enough you may be able to stick a long flexible magnet down the filler pipe and withdraw the bolt. You certainly don't want the bolt bouncing around inside the tank messing up the fuel pump or filter, if internal, or the fuel gage sending unit.

I read that the bolt is IN the tank, if so don't worry about it as the fuel will not rust it. It could damage the float assembly that works your gas gauge but not very likely it will. Just pretend it's not there.

gas provide up? i've got by no skill heard something referred to as that, yet while this is the petcock you're pertaining to, then basically eliminate the hoses from it and the tank ought to come off. i do no longer propose removing the petcock from the tank, besides the shown fact that there are situations the place that must be mandatory. If that may no longer it, I have no theory what a gas provide up is...

The fuel won't cause it to rust moisture (H2O) will. You can replace the bolt with a stainless steel one. it should never rust well at least in your lifetime.
