I have a 2001 Chevy Cavalier 2.2 4 Cylinder. I had a new A/C compressor installed over the summer. When accellerating the car would go and then lose power, but the enigne got louder, the car was slow to find the correct gear when passing or accellerating. This only happened when it was hot or warm outside or in direct sunlight,at night and when its cooler outside the car runs perfectly fine performance wise, but makes wierd noises when the A/C is on. What would make my car run so weird and make strange noises. Please Help...

My transmission fluid is brown and the transmission slips when the car is cold. I cant get it to a mechanic right away and I want to put conditioner in the car to help tie it over until I can get it flushed and drop the pan. But there is more than enough trans fluid already, would it be too much to add a quart of conditioner?

I have an automatic and when I hit the gas while in drive, it revs up and it doesn’t quite go into gear quickly.
power seems to be lost. but after driving to work on the freeway and after the car warms up. the problem goes away.

But today after driving home from work, when I let off the gas, the power let loose with a jerk. and after driving some more, the power cut out for a second a few times.

Is it the timing or the transmission.

By the way, its an old car and it has a knocking sound ever since I bought it this last August.
The continues knocking seems to be in the crank shaft, cylinder, or from near the engine block, the knocking goes rapid when the RPM’s speed up and goes slower when the RPM’s go slower.

I bought two tires for my car last winter and had them put on the back wheels. I just recently bought two more new tires (same kind) and they were put on the front wheels. My car is a mustang which is rear wheel drive. The new tires have slightly more tread than the older ones (of course). Should I put the new treads on the back for better traction or leave them on the front for more steering control?

I bought a battery on the internet and i bought sulferic acid (battery acid) to fill it with. The acid is corrosive but it was in a plastic container. Will it remove marks and oil spots on concrete? Just want to see if anyone has used it to do this before i try anything, thanks!

I own a cherry 87 suburban with a 4 speed stick and no AC. It's a simple truck and I love Driving it. I just tossed out the smog pump and installed Headers with turbo Muffs. But the old EFI unit and dist. Have to go. I am looking to install a Manafold with a Holley 650 and a older dist that I can tune to my liking. I been building small blocks for 30 years and the EFI just does not cut it for me. I need to know if I can use the efi fuel pump, Bill

I have a 96 ford aerostar. We are not sure what's wrong with it could be a blown engine or head gaskets\pistons things...Would it be cheaper to just get a rebuilt engine?

Its a 03 taurus.
I left work yesterday and the car started fine, as it was warming up, id say 10 seconds after starting it, it died.
I tried to start it again and it made a high pitched squeeling noise for about 3 seconds and the car died. I tried a few times, so I just left my car at work
It was a really cold night so I figured it was just too cold.
I tried again this morning and the same thing. The car ran after I revved it up a few times but I dont know if its okay to drive. The check engine light is also on now.
Never had a car problem with this vehicle before....what could the problem be???

If you have one of those 3.1 Liter engines and it has pretty bad piston slap, If I were to pull this engine and bring it into a machine shop, would they be able to rebore this engine so it would have closer tolerences so this piston slap would go away with the rebuilt engine.

New head gasket job, I started it up and ran great 5+ starts and then nothing. Engine shut down no sounds or anything. I checked all fuses and relays and I am not geting spark but I am geting fuel. I am not getting any voltage out of the feed to the coil. I replaced the cam pos. sensor and had the crank sensor check, good. It cranks great but still, no spark. I also tested the coil pack and it was good, and like I said I wasnt getting anything TO the coil. I cleaned all connections twice, and studied the wiring schematics.NOTHING!!! INFURIATING!!! I have talked to mechanics and experts but they havent told me anything I dont know. Possibly could be a fault in the ASD cicuit after the fuel injectors?? I am 14 and this was my first head gasket job on my sisters car and I recieved no help, my father lives in florida. Like I said the car was running great 5+ start ups after I finished the head gasket Then it cut out, no noises or smoke. Any help will be thanked with MUCH praise!!!

Alright up till now my car has been the best that I own and still with the minor glitches that I encounter they are livable, but I seem to have to jerryrig a few things to get them to operate. First my Air/heat would only work on 3 or higher now it only works on 5. It does not blow on any other number.
My driver side window will only roll down at normal speed. And I have to dig my finger underneath the button to roll it up.
My check engine light always stays on (however tech said car needed gasket cleaning and did it) Still stays on after tried to reset it.
Like I say they are little nuances, which are ok but is there anyone else out there that is having similar issues and how were they corrected?

Hi,

Has anyone ever installed the Electronic Rust Protection - Couplertec in the car? Is it more effective than the "old style" spray in preventing rust? or is it just electronic gimmick?

Look forward to reading your comments. Thanks!
