I have a 96 ford aerostar. We are not sure what's wrong with it could be a blown engine or head gaskets\pistons things...Would it be cheaper to just get a rebuilt engine?

A rebuilt engine for a '96 Aerostar might be more than the car's worth. Your local Track Auto, or Pep Boys my have remanufactured motors, but you have to figure in the cost of installation. I would check with a mechanic, and find out what a repairs would cost, and then weigh that against what the car's worth.

Good Luck!!!!

Unfortunately either a already rebuit engine or rebuilding your engine will likely cost more than the car is worth.
The cheapest way to fix your car would probably be with a used engine from a salvage yard... albeit a bit more risky.
Otherwise you should consider selling/donating the car as is and buying another.

Depending on make and year, a rebuilt engine could be in the area of $2500-$4000 installed

If you're anywere near south carolina i know a guy who would do it for a 12 pack. If not i would guess near $3,000.00 installed.
