Hi,

Has anyone ever installed the Electronic Rust Protection - Couplertec in the car? Is it more effective than the "old style" spray in preventing rust? or is it just electronic gimmick?

Look forward to reading your comments. Thanks!

I saw these on sale at Canadian Tire for $199 and thought about getting one for my new car. Basically out of the mass googling I've done on it, I've determined that there wasn't enough evidence that shows that this device is truly effective against delaying the onset of rust by a meaningful amount. Electronic rust protection works for boats because of the sacrificial anode, but this impressed current coupling? I don't buy it. Besides, cars these days are made a lot better for protecting against rust than they used to be due to all the flack the Japanese car manufacturers got from their cars in the 80's and 90's rusting so early.

You want rust protection? Get a can of Corrosion-X. Makes WD40 look like kid's stuff.

Gimmick. The theory behind it is sound but the majority of these devices don't work like they promise.
