I am trying to find out things that I need to check for when a vehicle has been caught in a flood. I also am trying to find out how to repair possible problems or what type of damage to look for.

Hi, I have a really old car that I was only planning on keeping for a couple more months. I think the car needs new shocks. Is this something I can get away without fixing? Or will the car break down if I don’t get it fixed?

My truck is stalling without warning while i have it in drive, warm...
10 to 20 minutes after stalling.

Here's a link to the poll, with details of what I have tested so far.

The car starts fine in the dry, but water seems to be getting into the ignition system somehow when its been left in the rain. Not sure what I can do to fix this, but I've a feeling it will be something straightforward to fix and don't want to spend a fortune taking it to the local garage. If anyone can offer any assistance that'd be very much appreciated.

I have an 86 Olds Cutlass and sometimes when I drive it, it will die in the middle of the road. I was thinking maybe a clogged fuel filter because we had the gas tank replaced. Other then that I am at a loss. Any ideas? The car may be old but it has less then 80,000 miles on it and runs good.

This morning I go out to my car and it chose to act out on me. 2000 Daewoo Nubira.

As soon as I turned it on, it started shaking and almost like it was bouncing. The check engine light also came on too. I put it in reverse to see if that may work, but it still was shaking. I then put it in drive and gave a little gas, no result, so I put it back in park and now have no idea what to do.

I have a 2006 Subaru Forrester and the first scheduled maintenance needs to be done. Is there any grace period for having this maintenance performed -- like within one week or 100 miles or something like that?

Its just cold, NOT freezing yet, where I live. It's a carburetor, 4 cylinders, normal gasoline (not diesel), it turns over fine when I start it, so I don't think its the battery, and I have to pump the pedal very fast to get it working, I CANT step on the gas, or it wont work at all. I've had vacuum leaks in the car before but I think they're fixed. When its warm out the car starts fine. What should I do ? Oh yeah, the engine has hundreds of thousands of miles on it, but it still sounds good when it runs.

I brought my van to a place to have an alignment done. They came back and told me they did the alignment but the lower ball joints are bad. If I have them fixed in 30 days, I can have it realigned for free. My mechanic said to get my money back because it's impossible to do an alignment if the ball joints are bad, so he said they must not have done an alignment but charged for it anyway. (my mechanic does not do alignments)

This only happens when I stop the car. I have benn told it could be the IAC valve or possibly the breather pipe. I think it may be the battery, any ideas?

It's a 2005 Infiniti Q45 with only 5000 miles. It has leather seats. I specifically told the seller online that I don't want a smoker's car, but guess they can't smell the carcinogent left in the material. It's not as bad as some rental cars, but still very detectible.

Yesterday, I went to apply my Emergency Brake when I parked and it was able to be pulled all the way up with no hesitation!! This morning, I was driving and as the car is moving, I heard what sounds like a grinding or something stuck on the rotors....it doesn't do it much when I apply the brakes but when I drive, the noise gets louder like a rubbing sound. What could this be and approx how much to fix it?
