To rid the car of smoker's remnant you must invest a little time. Take the seats out to let them get some air. However, you must be careful not to let them sit in the sun. Spray the ceiling with good ol' formula 409. Do the same with the carpeting. ( If problem persists, new carpeting is called for.) Lots of luck

I think the best way to get rid of tobacco smoke is to clean the headliner of the car. It may already look clean, but I use some stuff called "awning cleaner" from ACE hardware. It will not change the color of the headliner, but will clean it very well. Then use some stuff called "FDS" (feminine deodorant spray) It will be strong at first but after setting for an hour, your car will be fine.

Have your car properly detailed - this should get rid of the smell - expect to pay what might seem a lot of money for a proper job but it will be worth it.

Put fabric softener sheets under the seats. Just remember, it will last for a bit, so you'll need to replace them frequently. But, it's a pretty cheap solution!
Also, febreeze the carpeting on the floor regularly.

At my car dealership we use this thing called "ozone machine". Go to an Infiniti dealership and ask to get a detail and ask that their ozone machine be used.
